Station and metro side by side
The Baku station lies almost in the centre, in the Nasimi district, about three kilometres from the Old City. It is connected by a pedestrian tunnel to the 28 May metro station, so reaching a train from anywhere in the city is very easy — by metro.
From the metro to the platform
An underground passage leads from the 28 May metro to the station. Inside the station building are ticket offices, waiting halls and exits to the platforms. Tickets for suburban, intercity and international trains are bought at offices and machines; for long-distance and international routes it is better to buy in advance.
The essentials, briefly
Almost in the centre of Baku, in the Nasimi district, about 3 km from the Old City. It is connected by a pedestrian tunnel to the 28 May metro.
In 1880, at the height of the oil boom. The first lines linked the city with the oil fields and with Tiflis; at the same time the first Moorish station building was built.
A separate station, built in 1926 for the electrified Baku–Sabunchu line — one of the first electric railways in the country.
Suburban electric trains across Absheron, intercity across Azerbaijan and international — above all to Georgia, to Tbilisi.
A railway corridor opened in 2017 linking Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. It is part of the new Silk Road between Asia and Europe.
The easiest way is by metro to the 28 May station, from where a pedestrian tunnel leads to the station. Buses and taxis are also suitable.
Descend to 28 May, walk through the tunnel — and you are already at the station, where the journey begins.
